Family Math Night

There is no homework tonight!

Families are encouraged to come to Family Math Night. It begins in the gym at 6pm with free pizza. Families will work their way through certain classes with fun activities. There will be door prizes and a possible dress down for attendance.

 Mrs. Casto's class please work at home with your parents on counting back change. Remember to say the amount owed, then starting with the smallest number count up to the amount they give you. Example
3.65 is total
4.00 is the amount given
Say 3.66, then count up with pennies first... say: 3.66, 67, 68, 69, 70, 3.70. Then move on to dimes, 3.80, 90, 4.00. How much change did you give them?
Now try
7.48 total

What is the change?

Homework and Valentine's Day

Valentine's Party Day Tomorrow

1. Dress down in red, white, or pink. There is no charge, but remember we are doing Pennies From Heaven.
2. Don't forget your card box/bag.
3. Don't forget to bring your friend's Valentines. You may bring cards for people in other classes as well.

 
Everyone in Mrs. Casto's class was given 15 minutes to work on their Social Studies test today. Also no one finished the test, so you get an extra night to study after seeing all questions....WoW! You are a lucky group of kids. :) Everyone should have their books at home with them. I am expecting high grades from the whole class. :)

Your life sized hero is due tomorrow. You will share with the class, then put him/her on display in the hallway.

Valentines' s Party

Hey Kids,

Don't forget we will have our Valentine's Day party Thursday. Have a container for receiving cards, and be sure to have a card for all other kids in the class. We will not be doing the Revolutionary Report site that I had posted. We will be having our final from the end of ch. 8 through all of ch. 9, (pages 280-329) on Wednesday, February 13th. Your book should be going home for review each night until then.

Remember that we will also be doing a marshmallow battle of Yorktown the following week. Bring in up to two bags of mallows for 3-6 bonus points.
